Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services (Ellsworth, Wis.) and its broadband subsidiary, SwiftCurrent Connect, celebrated the inauguration of a new data center in Hager City with a ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside Metered Mining. The owners of Metered Mining anticipate becoming the cooperative's largest electric consumer by year-end.
"This project sends a clear message to Pierce County and Western Wisconsin that we are ready to accommodate data centers and the transformative developments they bring, whether in AI, Bitcoin, or other uses. We are open for business," stated Nate Boettcher, President & CEO of Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services. He also noted that the data center will be partially powered by a 2 MW solar facility nearby, which feeds into the local substation.
